Poodles are supposed to have a square, balanced outline. So yes most minis and toys people have seen are short legged and when they see one that is as they are supposed to be they get confused.

Standard poodles in particular go through the dreaded coat change, when the coat mats very easily, but after that you are looking at a thorough brush and comb a couple of times a week, and a trim every 6 weeks or so.
