Have done both. Since I can work remotely I can work just fine at the shop if there’s a good waiting area with comfortable seating and WiFi. For warranty/recall work the dealer chain here uses complimentary Lyft to get people home and to pick up.
And because the drivers aren't employees but "independent contractors", Uber and Lyft are comfortably free of any responsibility - let alone consequences. What do they care?
